Greenprint for a Sustainable Water Future

Hunter Water Corporation (HWC), The Tom Farrell Institute for the Environment (TFI) and the Hunter Environmental Institute will host a seminar to discuss various aspects of water management as part of National Water Week.

Peter Dennis from HWC and Garry Willgoose from the University of Newcastle will present on the sustainable management of urban water in regards to water security, effluent recycling and government policy to create sustainable cities of the future.

Fergus Hancock from the NSW Office of Water will provide an overview of the Department’s policy framework for the sustainable management of urban water. Several policies are available on the website mentioned above, and some are currently being developed, including those relating to aquifer interference, managed aquifer recharge and stormwater harvesting. Specifically, Fergus will examine the Hunter case study of integrated catchment planning.
