Part 3A status quo and possible changes

Wednesday, March 09, 2011 - 4:00pm - Wednesday, March 09, 2011 - 6:00pm

Part 3A was introduced into NSW planning law in late 2005. It gives power to the NSW government to make planning decisions on matters that are considered to be of “state significance”. Assessment of Part 3A has recently been undertaken by both ICAC and the Environmental Defencers Office on behalf of the Nature Conservtion Council of NSW (NCC).

James Ryan, Chair of the NCC Planning Committee, will outline the findings of the IDO report they commissioned, the findings and the suggestions for changes; and

Rob Stokes, Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Planning, (introduced by Tim Owen, Liberal candidate for Newcastle) will present his party’s perspective.

The seminar is supported by The Tom Farrell Institute for the Environment (TFI) and the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER).
